Gloster Javelin FAW Mk.9R Wing Tank/Refuelling Probe Kit

Out of the final production batch of 116 Mk.9 only 40 were fitted with in-flight refuelling probe capability and 230 imperial gallon drop tanks to become Mk.9R. The attachable refuelling  probe was some 20’ long mounted high on the starboard side. The 9R could also carry up to 4 drop tanks. June 1960 Javelin Mk.7 finally fired a Firestreak missile that successfully downed a Meteor Drone aircraft.

On the Mk.9R only the outer wing stations remained missile capable, the inner pylons were dedicated to the drop-tanks.
